Micklewright Doubles Up as the Gardens Team Get Busy

The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team have been out on patrol today, continuing their proactive approach to tackling crime, safeguarding the public and providing reassurance to those who live, work and visit the city centre.

PC Micklewright got the day off to a busy start, arresting a female adult after she was found in possession of a Class A drug. She has since been charged and bailed.

PC Cross also made an arrest after identifying an Eritrean man who was found to have breached his immigration bail conditions. He has subsequently been bailed again while the relevant immigration processes continue.

PC Duffy then took action after identifying a female adult who had failed to appear at court in relation to six separate offences. She was arrested and dealt with accordingly.

Not to be outdone, PC Micklewright then bagged her second arrest of the day, later detaining an adult male on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis after officers observed what could only be described as a rather unsubtle exchange.

Alongside the enforcement activity, PC Simm was also on hand to provide a visible and reassuring presence during a parade taking place in the city centre, helping to ensure those attending could enjoy the event safely.

Sergeant Jon Wyatt, who leads the Piccadilly Gardens Team, said:

“Today has been another excellent example of the breadth of work our team carries out on a daily basis. From drugs and immigration matters through to wanted offenders and providing reassurance at a public event, the team have remained visible, proactive and focused on the issues that matter to the community.

“It’s particularly pleasing to see officers taking positive action based on what they see and identify while out on patrol. The public should continue to speak to us and provide information about concerns in Piccadilly Gardens — that intelligence helps us target our activity and make the area safer for everyone.”

The team’s work doesn’t stop when an arrest is made. Officers will continue to patrol Piccadilly Gardens, respond to concerns raised by the community and take positive action against those involved in criminality and anti-social behaviour.
